Weekly Blog (May 4th, 2012)
This week, I have completed my presentation, poster, and paper. The final touches are being placed on everything, and the project is wrapping up very successfully. The last thing that needs to be completed is the final model and placing it on the site model.

First slide of PowerPoint
- I have officially finished all of my components for my project. They have all been incorporated in the PowerPoint presentation that I worked on this week. This PowerPoint will be used for when I present my project in May. Pictures from all my components have been placed in my PowerPoint, except for the architectural drawings which will be presented separately.
- At home, I have been been working on my final model, which has come a long way. This model is more difficult to construct than I anticipated, but I am taking my time so it can be presentable and efficient. The model is made out of basswood, and some components of the model are made from balsa wood.
- Next week, I will be working on my paper again. My project is coming to an end, and I am pleased with everything that I have completed, and ready to work on everything I have yet to complete.

Front Rendering of model

- At home I completed my chipboard model and I am working on completing my basswood model.
- This weekend, I will be completing my basswood model, which is the final product, and next week, I will be working on my Powerpoint presentation.

Acoustics Poster
- In class, I have been working on illustrator posters for the site analysis and for the acoustics of my project. The site analysis poster did not give me problems because I had taken various photographs for the poster. The acoustics poster has been tougher to complete because I do not have any pictures of my own and without pictures, it is had to make look like a professional poster. During my adviser meeting, I will ask for help with the acoustics poster.
- I went to Hobby Lobby to see how much bass wood costs and this weekend I will be going to the Co-op art store in Austin to see the price levels there. I will begin my final model this weekend with the materials that I will buy.
- Throughout the rest of this month and in April, I will be working on the final model of my project.

Wire frame view of SketchUp Model
- In class, I am working on my SketchUp model. I have started on all components of my model in SketchUp, but I have still yet to complete it. The hardest problem that I am facing is lack of time, so I downloaded SketchUp on my own computer to work on my own time. This model is giving me a better perspective of what my final model will be once I begin creating the final model at home.
- At home I began my chipboard model, which will just give me an idea of how big my final model will be, and how I want the final model to look. This sketch model is in the same scale as the final model will be (1/16"). I have enough chipboard to finish this model, but I will have to buy basswood to create the final model.
- This next week is spring break, but this weekend I am planning on completing my SketchUp model and finish my chipboard model so I can begin the final model by next weekend and the week when I get back to school. I also want to finish my poster for my site analysis this weekend.

1st Component of Theatre in SketchUp.
- This week, I have begun working on the first component of my model in SketchUp. I thought that it would be easier than it has been, but I am still completing what I need to to stay on time. The actual shape of the theatre is causing some problems, but I have been working through everything as best as I can.
- This weekend I am going to be starting on the actual model of my theatre. This is a big step because this model will be the final project that I will present at the end of the year.Hopefully I will not encounter too many problems upon starting this portion of my project.
- Outside of class, I am working on the final project, which is the actual model of the theatre at a 1/16" scale.

Component Drawings 2/22/12
- In class, I am working on the components of my model and figuring out where everything will go while staying within the space I have given myself. The main challenge I am facing is trying to figure out the exact dimensions of everything, but I think I am at a good place so far in my project.
- Out side of class, I have completed my 1/16" site model. It was very time consuming and the measurements were difficult to convert, but I am on schedule according to the timeline I created.
- This weekend, I plan to work on my first model, working on where the components will be, and the general shape.

Weekly Blog #7 (February 17, 2012)
- In class this week I have been working on my initial sketches and working on the placement of the programs for my model. I am having trouble with choosing what I want to incorporate in my model and where I want everything to be.

Weekly Blog #6 (February 10, 2012)
- While writing this research paper, I realized that a research paper is not very hard to complete. Even though everything has to blend together, a research paper is not very hard to complete, even with sources. With this research paper, I have learned about architects who have completed theaters, and the components that are actually involved in the creation of a theater.
- This week, I discovered the Teatro Colon, in Argentina, which is considered one of the best theaters in the world. This theater is recognized for its acoustics and its artistic construction.
- For this coming week, I will finish the paper, and I will work on my site analysis and models for my project.

Weekly Blog #5 (February 3, 2012)
- This week, I learned that there in fact are small venues which provide students to work together in San Antonio. They are a small version of what I would like to see in this city, and even though these theaters are placed in "bad" neighborhoods, they provide an outlet for many young and aspiring performers.
- This week I have completed my timeline and writing problem C of my paper. My research for the problems is near complete. I have also talked to Mr. G about getting together so I can get a better grasp about the acoustics needed for a theater.
- This weekend I plan on working on my site analysis and beginning my 1/32" sketch models.

Weekly Blog #4 (January 27, 2012)
- I have been meeting with my faculty adviser, but I have yet to come across any problems so the meetings have been fairly short, just reiterating what I have completed so far and what I intend to complete in the near future. I am understanding how the time I still have is very important, because if I do not stay on time with my schedule, I will not be able to complete this project.
- This week, I have looked at specific theaters, from Broadway and San Antonio. I have been comparing the sizes and aesthetics between the theaters, and figuring out why the theaters in New York are more admirable than the theaters in San Antonio. I have decided on the programs I want to include and the amount of seats and how big the actual stage will be.I also finished writing out problem A for my research paper, and this next week I will work on the completion of writing problem B.
- This coming week I will be working on figuring out the total space that my building will need to be proficient. I will also be looking at the newest and modern materials used for buildings and theaters.

Weekly Blog #3 (January 20, 2012)
1. A timeline is important because it makes you aware of where you ideally need to be at different time periods. A timeline for this project is very important because this project has so many components and without a timeline, I would easily become lost in what I need to do and what I have already completed. Sticking to a timeline will help me in the future because I do not want to procrastinate when I am in college or when I am employed.
2. This week, I chose an ideal site for my project, and I have narrowed down the programs for my building to include. I recently finished my outline for the paper I will write, and the introduction for the paper. One of the architects who I have recently read about was Alvar Aalto, who designed a theatre in Germany.
3. This coming week I want to get the square footage for the whole building and all the programs included in the building. This will help me get the basic design of the shape of my building to proceed with this project.

Weekly Blog #2 (January 17, 2012)
Reflections on research:
- I have completed my final proposal and I just received it back without any recommendations. I am on schedule with my research and I have turned in all the paperwork so far.
- My faculty adviser meeting went well, I proposed my idea, and Ms. Pino approved. This meeting was fairly short because I have a good idea of what I plan on doing and I have yet to run into any problems.
- So far, my adviser has not given me recommendations for my idea.
- I plan on finding a piece of land in San Antonio and find a topographic map of this land. This will help me with the basic overall shape of my building. I also want a clear idea of all the programs that will be involved in this building to get an average of the square footage of my building. I am still in an ambiguous stage.
